Nearly 350,000 Missouri women need publicly supported contraceptive care. The national economic recession has been a double-edged sword for CAPNCM’s Women’s Health Services. More women are seeking low-cost reproductive health services while state and federal funds to help pay for these services have been cut. Tax-deductible donations from the public are needed to help cover expenses. To donate, call CAPNCM at 660-359-3907, 660-359-2855 or toll-free 1-877-611-7600.
Money spent on public health services is not wasted. For every government dollar spent on family planning services, an average of $4.40 is saved as a result of averting short-term expenditures on medical services, welfare and nutritional services. Regular annual examinations also can detect cancer and other diseases in early, treatable stages, saving patients and the public money.
